Cardiff Food Bank.

Cardiff Foodbank was set up in 2009 with the vision that nobody in the city should go hungry, and there would always be a safety net for those in the most dire need. Fast forward to today, and the foodbank is still finding its services providing emergency food parcels are in strong demand.
The founders had identified real hardships in local communities and set to work to establish the Charity. They persuaded supermarkets and other organisations to support the team of hard working volunteers giving their time to feed struggling families and individuals.
In 2020 the pandemic arrived, adding to an already difficult situation. As everything closed down, the Foodbank resolutely kept its doors open and carried on its vital work bringing relief to those in need.
When the pandemic passed, however, it became clear that Cardiff Foodbank had developed and changed. It had storage depots at two sites, one of them at UKSE’s Cardiff Bay Business Centre, and another on the outskirts of the city.
It was clear that a single, larger headquarters would be more efficient, and fortunately a suitable unit became available at CBBC, which turned out to be the perfect solution.
"I just came, had a look and it felt right. UKSE can’t do enough for us and we’ve got a really good, strong relationship with them and the site team. Without that, I don’t think we could find another space that would enable us to do what we do."Mark Tugwell – Operations Manager

How we did it.
Cardiff Foodbank had been a tenant at our CBBC since 2013 and we were delighted to be working with them and doing our bit to help. So, we fully understood their needs when they were looking for a more strategic location nearer the city centre, and when a larger unit became available we were pleased to offer it to them.
The results.
Improved logistics and efficiency
The larger, single site has made the logistics of operation much easier and more efficient
Convenient location
With great access and ample parking, Cardiff Bay Business Centre is the perfect location
Better service to the community
The improved site allows the foodbank to do more of what it does best - providing a vital and much needed service to the local communities of Cardiff
