Simon was appointed Managing Director in 2013. He brought wide experience in business banking and management to UKSE when he joined, and headed the UKSE teams in the North of England region and Scotland for several years. During that time, he oversaw both the investment and property functions, including the development of the two multi-million pound Innovation Centres on Teesside.

Richard joined UKSE in 1995 as Company Accountant before becoming Finance Director and  Company Secretary in 2008. Richard is responsible for all accounting matters together with any IT related issues.

Matt was appointed as Investment Director in 2013 and is responsible for overseeing UKSE’s investment activities. After working for our parent company as an accountant, he joined UKSE in 2003 and has many years of experience assisting businesses realise their growth potential.

Nick qualified as a solicitor in 1997 and specialises in mergers and acquisitions, private equity investment and corporate banking transactions. Nick worked in private practice before joining UKSE in 2017 and is responsible for providing legal advice to UKSE on its equity and debt investments.

Rob joined the UKSE team in 2022 after several years in other accounting roles. He looks after all our finance matters.

Ellie has a background in accounts and audit, along with a stint in corporate finance advising business owners across all aspects of M&A. She qualified as a Chartered Accountant in 2022, and works alongside Matt, Nick and Alex in the investment team.

Alex became a Chartered Accountant in 2019 and has since gained valuable experience in Corporate Finance, specialising in advising SMEs on a diverse range of M&A transactions. Passionate about helping clients achieve success, Alex takes great pride in supporting their growth and seeing them thrive. Alex works alongside Matt, Nick and Ellie in the investment team.

Laura joined UKSE in February 2003. As Finance Officer she supports the Company Accountant in administering the finance function in Head Office. Laura also keeps everything ticking with her coordination of office activities and operations, to make sure everything is efficient, organised and in line with our company policies.

Ivy joined UKSE in 2020 starting as a receptionist / administrator  in Sheffield Innovation Centre. Ivy is passionate about the environment and doing the right thing for our steel communities and has now taken on the role of ESG Co-Ordinator, based in Head Office, working alongside our ESG Lead on all aspects of our Environmental, Social and Governance work.

Scott has a background in business finance and joined the team in 2012. He works in both property and finance matters across Lanarkshire, Glasgow and Ayrshire and has headed the team there since 2020.

Marc has worked with small businesses for over 10 years, latterly within the public sector as a Business Growth Adviser, where he provided strategic guidance and support to a diverse array of companies. He joined UKSE in 2024 and his primary role is the provision of loan and equity funding to SMEs within our Scottish region.

Jackie has worked with the company since 1987. She is our Senior Workspace Co-Ordinator in Scotland and looks after the day-to-day running of our Grovewood Business Centre.

Michele joined UKSE in 2022 and is part of the Workspace team at Grovewood Business Centre, where she is involved in all aspects of the day-to-day running of the site.

Sarah has a background in business finance and portfolio management. Sarah is responsible for investment and property matters for the North of England.

Peter qualified as a Chartered Accountant with corporate finance experience and is also a former corporate bank manager. Peter works alongside Sarah in both property and finance matters across Tees Valley, Derwentside and West Cumbria.

Joan is Workspace Manager for our North Region and is based at Hartlepool Innovation Centre. She has a wealth of experience from the public and private sectors.

Diane joined UKSE after working for a former tenant that was based at the Innovation Centre for several years. She brings a wealth of experience from various sectors and is now involved in the day to day operations of the Kirkleatham centre.

Christine joined UKSE in 2024 and is part of the workspace team at the Kirkleatham Innovation Centre. Christine is involved in all aspects of the day-to day running of the Centre and brings a wealth of customer service experience to the role.

Paula is part of the Workspace team at Hartlepool Innovation Centre. She has a wealth of experience from varied industries.

Alex is primarily working at the Innovation Centre in Hartlepool.  Alex is experienced in customer service with previous roles in the public and private sectors

Steve joined UKSE in 2021.  He has over 30 years’ experience of lending to businesses across a range of sizes and sectors.  His principle role is providing equity and debt investments to companies in the Yorkshire and Humber region.

Pete joined UKSE in 2022 having previously worked in corporate finance, bringing a decade of experience advising business owners across all aspects of M&A and fundraising. He is responsible for the provision of debt and equity investments to SMEs within the Yorkshire and Humber region.

Jayne joined UKSE in September 2001, originally as a member of the Head Office team, before moving to the regional office a few years later. In 2022 she was appointed as Senior Workspace Co-Ordinator.

Amber joined UKSE in 2022 as a Workspace Co-Ordinator for the Yorkshire and Humber region. She is involved with the daily running of the Innovation Centre.

Alan has worked in the banking industry for 42 years including as Senior Bank Manager and more recently as Relationship Manager in Commercial Banking & Agriculture for Lloyds Banking Group. Steve started his working life at HSBC and has been looking after the funding needs of businesses across the Midlands for 30 years. Along the way he has been involved in running his own businesses, undertaken an MBO and also worked in corporate finance advisory.
