Responsibility.
We're all about responsibility, it's at the heart of everything we do. That's why we're on a journey, to help our communities create a more sustainable future.
Creating a positive future
The UKSE Way
Sometimes it’s the small things that make a big difference.
We all have a responsibility to reduce our impact on the world around us, to look after the communities in which we live and work, and to create a more sustainable future. Take a look at what responsibility means to UKSE.
Our ethos
Being responsible.
We’re adopting real changes to make a real-world difference, using the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals. Implementing these changes is an exciting challenge, but we’re accountable, and we’ll be reporting on the progress. You’re aiming big and so are we.
Good health and well-being
When the health of a community is good, everyone benefits. Quality of life matters and we want our communities to be great places to live and work with well-being front and centre.
Quality education
For some, it’s about finding the right approach to learning so they can reach their potential and remove barriers to opportunities. We support initiatives that promote training and learning allowing individuals to develop new skills and increase their employability and life chances.
Affordable and clean energy
Without energy, business just doesn’t happen, but energy must be produced responsibly. We support projects that promote the development of renewable and sustainable energy. After all, the stone age didn’t end because we ran out of stones; we transitioned to better solutions.
Decent work and economic growth
We want businesses to grow and create employment opportunities in our communities. Our workspaces enable local businesses to thrive. Our investment programme provides support to companies promoting growth and jobs. We’re good at it, have been doing this for a long time and we know what works.
Industry, innovation and infrastructure
It’s not just people that need a place to call home. Businesses want a place that will attract the right employees and so develop and succeed. Centered at the heart of our communities, our workspaces provide high-quality, modern and versatile premises that are specifically designed to help your business grow.
Reduced inequalities
We want everyone to have the chance to be the best version of themselves, regardless of their background. When people have the drive and ambition to make something of themselves, all it takes is opportunity. Creating these opportunities in a community builds pride, recognises worth and reduces inequalities.
Sustainable cities and communities
Our focus is on the prosperity of regions which have typically relied on the steel industry – areas that are undergoing a transition. They have the opportunity to redefine themselves, and create a new identity. We help to remove barriers by providing finance and quality workspaces which allow businesses to grow, succeed and thrive.
Responsible consumption and production
We’re all about responsibility, it is at the heart of everything we do. We want to encourage businesses to follow us on this journey and consider how they can reduce waste and operate in a way that achieves the sustainable management and efficient use of natural resources.
Climate action
We are committed to raising the need for businesses to take action on the climate. Whatever stage of the journey you are at, we can help with your ambitions to be more sustainable and achieve net zero. By being responsible we can all play our part so that our communities are positive places to live, now and for future generations.
Accountability
UKSE and the Sustainable Development Goals
We have selected nine UN Sustainable Development Goals which we have embedded into our working practises. We, and the businesses we support, will use these goals to bring about change.
We will keep you up to date with our progress on this, so watch this space.
Governance
Our commitment.
