Project overview.

  • Case study type: Investment
  • Activity: Engineering
  • Region: Scotland

Engineering firm ID Systems is on the up and up after agreeing a deal with our team.

Providing turnkey engineering solutions to Scottish Water and many other customers, the business has grown rapidly in recent years. They needed funding for working capital, to increase capacity and to move to larger premises in Cumbernauld. Their ambition, our finance.

The relocation has enabled ID Systems to diversify into new markets and thanks to our support the company has grown its workforce, with 37 new jobs created. It’s expected that the business and its team will continue to grow to meet customer demand.

"We are very grateful to UKSE for their continued support. With this rate of growth, their commitment is vital to us."
Iain Doherty, MD

How we did it.

We knew this was a good team from day one. The opportunity matched many of our own goals including growth, job creation and lots of ambition. We initially invested £300,000; buying a minority stake in the company, alongside unsecured lending. This, and support from their bank allowed the team to set out on an ambitious plan for growth. The Directors remain in control.

And, when they needed funding to help with their new growth plans, we were the obvious place to come. We provided second round finance in unsecured lending. Since our initial investment turnover has doubled.
