UKSE 50th Anniversary Community Grant Supports Entrepreneur Me Programme Inspiring Sheffield Pupils.
Young people across Sheffield are gaining hands-on experience in entrepreneurship, teamwork and community values, thanks to continued support from UKSE and its Community Grant Funding.
Delivered by Entrepreneur Me, the long-running initiative has been working with schools for over 20 years, helping pupils develop business skills while understanding the importance of giving back to their local communities. UKSE has supported the programme for nearly two decades, helping it reach thousands of young people across South Yorkshire.
In 2026, the programme has already been delivered in two Sheffield schools, with a third planned. The first sessions took place at Springs Academy, where around 25 pupils with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) took part in a full-day enterprise challenge.
The second session was then at High Hazels Academy, where around 100 Year 5 pupils took part in a similar challenge.
The initiative aligns with wider ambitions across the city to encourage aspiration and opportunity for young people, with support from members of the Sheffield City Council’s See it Be it initiative.
Entrepreneur Me continues to be led by founder Matt Stewart, who works alongside local Yorkshire trainer Lisa Avery, working closely with teachers, parents and community volunteers to deliver the sessions.
Matt Stewart, Founder of Entrepreneur Me, said: “It’s incredible to see the energy and positivity the young people bring to these sessions.
“Whether working with SEND pupils or large school groups, the outcomes are always the same: confidence grows, teamwork develops, and pupils begin to see what they’re capable of achieving.
“With the continued support of UKSE, we’re able to keep delivering these opportunities and inspiring the next generation.”
Steve Lyon, Regional Manager at UKSE, added: “We’ve supported Entrepreneur Me for many years because it delivers real, lasting impact.
“It’s fantastic to see young people across Sheffield developing enterprise skills, learning about the region and, most importantly, building confidence in what they can achieve. It was great to volunteer at the Springs Academy session as ‘the banker’ and negotiate with the pupils.
“These are the kinds of experiences that can shape future ambitions and support stronger local communities.”
This support forms part of UKSE’s ongoing commitment to community development in Sheffield and beyond. As the organisation marks its 50th anniversary in 2025, it continues to invest in creating brighter futures, backing local projects, initiatives, and young people who make a difference in their communities.
