Help for North Lincolnshire youth support business.
A Scunthorpe-based youth welfare and educational support business, Advanced Practice Solutions, has launched after receiving £1,000 from the UK Steel Enterprise (UKSE) Kickstart Fund.
Advanced Practice Solutions, a business that specialises in providing academic and emotional support for students struggling with mainstream school, has invested in strategic advertising, marketing collateral and vital insurance, thanks to the funding from UKSE.
With 25-years’ experience as a youth worker – and considerable accomplishments in business management – business owner Patrick Lappin offers a range of 1:1 and group sessions for young people including anger management and motivational interventions.
Patrick’s experience also qualifies him to give in-depth training to School Coordinators, focussing on how to support students’ wellbeing and recognise when intervention may be needed.
Patrick commented: “As a starting point, I sent out leaflets to every school, college and academy in North Lincolnshire and have already had a lot of interest!
“I intend to cover the whole of Lincolnshire initially, and expand into South Yorkshire in the next 12 months. Looking even further ahead, to meet with the growing demands of the business, I plan to take on more staff and, once the education side of the business is stable, will consider adding to my repertoire with HR support for local businesses.”
Launched in February 2016 the UKSE Kickstart Fund – working in partnership with North Lincolnshire Council and the Growth Hub to support those looking to establish a business in the area – provides grants of up to £1,000.
Applicants also receive help and advice from local Growth Hub advisors and the Economic Development team at North Lincolnshire Council.
Allan Wood from UK Steel Enterprise commented: “The physical and mental wellbeing of our younger generation is of great importance and we are proud to have supported the establishment of a business that aims to support those in need. I am looking forward to seeing Advanced Practice Solutions’ success over the years as it continues to make a difference in our community and beyond.”
