A Rotherham-based business seeks to address challenges within the telematics industry and make the sector more accessible for customers after receiving a Kickstarter grant from UKSE.

Established in January by Colin Moroz, Project Telematics provides telematic services and platforms to organisations that require vehicle tracking and offers management solutions, consultancy, and project implementation.

Colin has 10 years’ experience in the industry, having previously worked for multiple telematics providers, including Inseego (Ctrack), Microlise, and Teletrac Navman.

Throughout his career, Colin found that one of the biggest challenges was project delivery, which can suffer if it starts off on the wrong foot – an issue that he sought to tackle by setting up his own business.

The ambitious entrepreneur applied for a kickstart grant from UKSE – a local investment company that provides finance of up to £1.5m to growing companies, as well as providing support for start-ups – which allowed him to invest in developing his vehicle tracking software, cover the costs of contract handling, and improve website SEO.

Despite only opening its doors three months ago, the business has quickly established partnerships with multiple technology providers across the industry and has delivered two successful projects for customers currently utilising telematics platforms.

Within the next 12-18 months, Colin plans to employ several Project Managers to help deliver telematics projects for clients across the UK and hopes to establish his business as an industry leader in the next five years.

Reflecting on his progress so far, Colin said: “This is my first company, so it’s a steep learning curve, but I am loving the challenge; I am fortunate enough to have multiple contacts throughout the industry to support me.

“I’m excited to work directly in a role that will help telematics end users get the best from their platforms and help them source the right technology for their fleets.”
