We often support companies right from the very beginning. Hart Biologicals is one such example. A biochemist by qualification, Albert Pattison had the tenacity and vision to start up his own medical diagnostics business.

From day one, we were impressed by his plans and wanted to help.

And our support has continued over the years as the company has rapidly grown, creating many specialist jobs in the Hartlepool area. Their products have changed and developed over time and now the company is a leader in providing medical diagnostic kits, especially targeted at haemostasis disorders.

The management have changed too, Alby realised his investment and the reins were passed over to Alexander Ebinger. Alexander is now targeting further growth, and the future will see the marketing and sales functions strengthened: more job creation in Hartlepool.

How we did it:.

The idea was great and the team very backable. We supported Alby’s start up with a small unsecured loan, enabling him to move the business into its first office. We want to make it as straight-forward as possible for start-ups with strong potential, to succeed.

When further funding was needed to expand, we were there. The relationship was already established, and the expansion plans made sense.

Most recently Hart needed a £500k package to expand to meet customer demand, including additional lab space and more specialist jobs. We provided support, finance and managed to lever in grant funding to help make it happen.

Hart is one of those specialist companies that will always have opportunities to grow and create jobs. It is a privilege to have been part of the growth journey so far, and we are excited to see what the future will bring.
